Sizzling in hot demand

Feb 12, 2017

The Inglis Classic sale is on for the very last time at its Newmarket venue this week.

What has always been known as a "value sale" where trainers can pick out some good types that may lack on pedigree compared to the January Magic Millions sale looks like that may be a thing of the past.. The value is gone.

Records are being broken despite the shortfall of blacktype in the pedigrees and a very notable success in the ring was that of first season sire Sizzling.

Lee and Cherie arrived at Randwick this morning hopeful they could secure Lot 428, A Sizzling filly from the 7 time winning Distant Music mare Dandy Warhols. Whilst the dam was well performed there wasn't a great deal of blacktype in the first two dams and the team had pegged the filly to bring $60-80k in a normal market.

The filly entered the ring and the opening bid was $60,000. She breezed right past the $80,000 our client had to spend on her and made $150,000 at the fall of the hammer.

Just last year the average sale price was $57,000 which was up 37% on the previous year. The average price for a Sizzling at this sale so far is $75,000!

Looking back to Magic Millions where the catalogue is stronger, the pedigrees greater, the legs are straighter, the xrays are cleaner.. Lee and Cherie cant believe how lucky they were to secure an outstanding colt by Sizzling for $70,000.

"Our Sizzling colt is an absolute cracker, he has a beautiful flowing walk, strength and great length. He comes from the family of the great Mannerism".

"After seeing what I did at this sale I couldn't be happier with my purchase in him. He is brilliant value by a very exciting young stallion. He looks like he will run early. His sire was an exceptional Two year old. I just cant wait to get him in and going" Lee said.

We welcome interest in our fellow;
